The News from Here – September
2005
Hello, as always, with a prayer that the blessings
of the Father and His Son are making themselves evident in
your daily lives.
Here, in Ivanovo, we
are having cool autumn days with clear skies. Most of
the trees are bare now, but they gave us a beautiful,
albeit quick, show.
THE YOUTH The youth are continuing with fire and vigor to reach out to the city. They are going weekly, and sometimes 2 or 3 times a week, into the streets to speak of the gospel message and to share in praise and worship songs.
Our Sunday night prayers are growing in strength and numbers as well. This past Sunday evening, we were joined by several adults from the church. Our church is in a week of fasting and prayer, and the youth prayers on Sunday have become and extension of this time. Also, my home group will be leading a night of prayer on this coming Thursday. On the 30th, we had a birthday party for all those who had birthdays in the last 3 months. It was a wonderful time. We played games, shared a word of encouragement and had great fellowship.
The party had a banana theme and my favorite moment was totally unscripted. During the evening, as part of a funny skit, candy was thrown from the stage. Some in the audience picked up some of the candy and threw it at others in the room. This escalated until people were throwing banana peels at everyone else. It was a fun, clean food fight that resulted in a lot of laughter.
SERGEI HAS A JOB Sergei has gone to work for a realty company. He is working as an agent at this time to learn the way things are done, and then will move into the legal department. This seems like such a natural move for him. He has worked as a builder, gotten his law license and is a natural salesman. He is enjoying it and I am glad to see him so fulfilled.
MY NEW “JOB” I have begun teaching aerobics, again. I am using a local gym and many of the women in the church are elated to have a place, once again, to take a class with a Christian atmosphere. They are bringing their unsaved friends and using it as an outreach to them. After taking off almost 3 years from teaching, it is a challenge, but I am feeling good and enjoying it.
THE FINANCIAL SITUATION The financial situation from last month hasn’t gone away. The ministry is still struggling to repay the borrowed money. I am still asking any of you who have been thinking about sending money to help us, please do so.
THE NEXT MONTH On the 28th, we will be having a “Night of Talents” at the youth meeting. These are always a time where many new youth come to watch and we get the chance to share with them. Please be praying for this, also.
Also, on Saturday the 29th, we will be having a seminar for the girls in the youth group. These are always a time where girls can bring their friends and let them listen to topics on not falling into sexual sin and how to combat low self esteem.
AND, FINALLY To those of you who month after month continue to support this ministry with your finances, I want to extend a huge thank you. You have stood with me these past 5+ years with steadfast faithfulness. Thank you, so much.
To those of you who continually support this work with your prayers, I know nothing is possible here without you “fighting the fight”. A huge thanks to you, also.
Until next month . . .
Keep the Faith,
Randy
